Now, this is what we call a meeting with a view.

HOS managing director, Don Fenwick, was absolutely delighted to attend a meeting with fellow engineering experts in Newcastle recently to discuss how the famous Swing Bridge can once again become operational.

Designed & constructed by Sir WG Armstrong & Company, the bridge was first used for road traffic in 1876 and is the fourth bridge to have been built on the same site over the Tyne at Newcastle.

Due to technical difficulties, the bridge has been unable to ‘swing’ for several years, therefore, as a business proudly based in the north east for over 30 years, we’re bringing our expertise and knowledge to hopefully ensure the bridge is working once again as it celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2026.
