All systems go on hydraulic system

22nd February 2023

Introduction

When a well stimulation vessel docked in the north east and called upon our services, our team of hose technicians were happy to help.

The Problem

Due to weathering, pitting was evident on the valve sealing faces along with heavy corrosion on the valve bodies exposing the thread of the  fixing bolts.

The vessel, which is owned by a leading provider of services to the marine, oil & gas industries, required a complete overhaul of the hydraulic system on the main hydraulic crane.

The vessel was docked for only five days meaning a tight deadline for our team.

The Solution

Our team of hose technicians visited the vessel and identified the work scope which included removing the original high pressure filter housings and related pipework. The valves were removed from the system with a full inspection being carried out.

New valve manifold assemblies, along with stainless steel pipework were measured, fabricated, tested and installed on board the vessel.

Summary

Due to the tight timescale on the project, HOS technicians were deployed to the vessel as soon as possible, our supply chain network were invaluable on this project, assisting our team to ensure required goods were delivered on time.

The project was successfully completed within five days to ensure the vessel could leave the port with an overhaul of the hydraulic system and no interruption or delay to their timescales.

“With an extremely tight timescale, we were delighted to be able to assist the vessel as she docked in the north east Our knowledge, experience and large supply chain network was evident throughout the project, well done to everybody involved.”

Paul Taylor – HOS director
