Hydraulic donation helps local school promote STEM

Following a request for assistance from Sunderland based business support organisation, RTC, we were delighted to come to the rescue of a local school in the north east.

Ward Jackson Church of England Primary School, based in Hartlepool, were keen to teach the children more about the engineering sector and were looking for a hydraulic arm to use in their STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) lab which could demonstrate moving parts and how they operated.

As a proud supporter of the engineering and manufacturing sectors, we’re keen to highlight the brilliant careers within our industry and the opportunities available to young people, therefore we were delighted to help.

After researching several products, a DIY kit was chosen where the children got to build the hydraulic arm from scratch and take a closer look at just how hydraulic power works.  We were delighted to be able to purchase this for the school and hand it over to Year 1 & 2 teacher, Jenni Petch.

Our business development administrator, Lauren Harbron, who organised the donation, commented, ‘As soon as we were alerted to the request and saw the school were interested in teaching the children about engineering and particularly, how hydraulics work, we were delighted to help.

We’re looking forward to seeing pictures of the children building and using the arm, it’s brilliant for them to enjoy a great toy while also learning about the world of hydraulics.’
