Heavy lift crane decommission

26th June 2023

Introduction

Our client is a UK based manufacturing business with over 30 years experience in the offshore supply industry.

The Problem

Following the completion of a long term project, our client requested our support to decommission a heavy lift crane.

The Solution

Upon arrival at site, our team discovered a 120 tonne heavy lift crane that required decommissioning.

HOS technicians and engineers created a work schedule alongside the clients’ requirements which included:

  • Bracing of all related hydraulic cylinders
  • Hydraulic system drained
  • All related accumulator pressures discharged and removed from the system
  • Hydraulic motors disconnected and removed
  • Hydraulic hose assemblies and grease lines removed and blanked off

Summary

Our work ensured that all equipment was decommissioned safely and within regulations to enable our client to carry on with further projects in the area.

“This project really demonstrates that our team are not just here for smaller projects, this work scope was complicated with safety being of paramount importance, with the support of our team, the work was carried out on time and within budget.”

Don Fenwick – HOS managing director
