Geoff HayesSunderland-based Hydraulic Offshore Supplies (HOS) has strengthened its team with the appointment of a new project engineer, as part of its ambitious growth plan.

Geoff Hayes has been appointed to oversee the businesses’ engineering projects, leading on the design and build of new systems, as well as providing general engineering support. As part of his new role, Geoff will also be customer focused, supporting clients with a diverse range of projects including system new builds and improving machine and equipment efficiencies of aging assets. HOS is a specialist supplier of hydraulic materials such as tube, fittings, industrial hose, pipeline materials and a manufacturer of hose assemblies to a range of sectors, including marine, offshore, automotive, nuclear, water, and food and beverage.

Geoff has extensive knowledge of the hydraulic and engineering industries, having previously worked at companies including Voith Engineering, Subsea Innovation, and DeepOcean. By utilising Geoff’s specialist understanding of hydraulic systems and skills in fault diagnosis, HOS aims to reduce costs to its customers and eliminate the need for timely repairs by maximising machine lifespans.

Speaking of his appointment, Geoff said: “Hydraulic Offshore Supplies is renowned for providing high calibre hydraulic products, and I am therefore pleased to be joining the team. “Having worked in the hydraulic and engineering industries for many years, I am confident that I can use my skills and experience to further develop the company’s excellent reputation.” Don Fenwick, Managing Director of Hydraulic Offshore Supplies, said: “We pride ourselves on offering our customers the highest quality products, which are created using our detailed industry knowledge and customer insight. I am delighted to welcome Geoff to the team and feel confident that he will be a strong asset to the company. His combination of sales expertise, technical product knowledge and project management will be invaluable in helping us to further develop our customer service and offering.” The new appointment comes at a time of growth for HOS, which has recently welcomed business development apprentice Lauren Harbron, and warehouse apprentice Ciaran Gibson to its team.

It has also recently acquired a key accreditation, the DNV-GL ISO 9001:2015, which allows the company to provide its customers with a detailed and efficient service by removing the need to undertake their own audits.

17th May 2018 | Specialist hydraulics supplier awarded industry accreditation

Hydraulic and Offshore Supplies (HOS) is delighted to announce we have obtained the key accreditation of DNV-GL ISO 9001:2015

Sunderland-based HOS is a specialist supplier of hose, fittings, instrumentation, and pipeline materials, supporting a widespread customer base, spanning across a range of industrial sectors.

The ISO 9001 accreditation which HOS has been awarded, provides a model in quality management systems, which focuses on the effectiveness of the processes in a business to achieve desired results. This independent accreditation has allowed HOS to provide its customers with an even more efficient service, saving them time and resources by removing the need to undertake their own audits, as well as providing customers with the reassurance that an accredited supplier professionally handles their businesses.

DNV GL is a global quality assurance and risk management company which provides classification, technical assurance, software, and independent expert advisory services to the maritime, oil and gas, power and renewables industries.

Don Fenwick, Managing Director of Hydraulic and Offshore Supplies, said: “We are truly delighted to be ISO9001:2015 accredited. This is an important milestone in our 30-year history and demonstrates our commitment to continuously grow and improve.

“Not only does this accreditation give our customers peace of mind that they are working with a company that has a strong reputation for quality and technical knowledge, but we have also noticed some internal improvements. Our Quality Management System has increased in efficiency since the accreditation, which has further improved our already strong customer relationships.”

Hydraulic and Offshore Supplies is a member of the British Fluid Power Distributor Association and Shipserv. The company also boasts accreditations from testing bodies Lloyds and ABS.
